We started off in tuning in by discussing the central idea and the lines of inquiry by throwing some provocative questions. We then used the handful resources from around the school. It may be a computer room, the library or multi-media. To help them assessed on their prior knowledge regarding the UOI; The activities involved are: * Students cut out pictures and identified the three states of matter by hanging them on the rope inside the classroom. * Researched online and in the library for more additional insights. * Asked students to gather at least two or three any objects with a partner together. They took turn to describe it in front of the class of what the objects are made of. * Used a mind map to get the students discussed the lines of inquiry.With their partner together, they brought their materials in front of the class and described what materials the objects are made of. With the use of BBC web site and other different resources, we used what we have learned to test the different properties and characteristics of materials in many chosen various activities. * Making boats of different papers. * Students were given pictures to sort out the different states of matter. * Making ice pops or ice cream. * Using balloons to see at the different states of matter. Students looked and observed the different states of matter using balloons. One filled with water and frozen, another filled with water and the other blown up balloon. The students were now able to compare and contrast the states of matter. Using different kinds of paper to make boat to see which materials will make the best and float. This was recorded in their journal as part of their observation. Admissions
