RESONATING WITH OUR LEARNING “Music is the electrical soil in which the spirit lives, thinks and invents.” –Ludwig van Beethoven We all know how greatly music affects our feelings and energy levels! Without even thinking about it, we use music to create desired moods– to make us happy, to enjoy movement and dance, to energize, to bring back powerful memories, to help us relax and focus. Music is a powerful tool for our personal expression within our daily lives– it helps “set the scene” for many important experiences. BRINGING EDUCATION TO LIFE WITH MUSIC The intentional use of music in the classroom will set the scene and learning atmosphere to enhance our teaching and learning activities. Plus, using music for learning makes the process much more fun and interesting! Team Collaboration We started off in tuning in by discussing the central idea and the lines of inquiry by throwing some provocative questions. We then used the handful resources from around the school. It may be a computer room, the library or multi-media. To help them assessed on their prior knowledge regarding the UOI; The activities involved are: * Students cut out pictures and identified the three states of matter by hanging them on the rope inside the classroom. * Researched online and in the library for more additional insights. * Asked students to gather at least two or three any objects with a partner together. They took turn to describe it in front of the class of what the objects are made of. * Used a mind map to get the students discussed the lines of inquiry.With the use of BBC web site and other different resources, we used what we have learned to test the different properties and characteristics of materials in many chosen various activities. * Making boats of different papers. * Students were given pictures to sort out the different states of matter. * Making ice pops or ice cream. * Using balloons to see at the different states of matter. Students looked and observed the different states of matter using balloons. One filled with water and frozen, another filled with water and the other blown up balloon. The students were now able to compare and contrast the states of matter. ways atoms worked with gases, solids and liquids. They created their own posters to show their understanding on what they have learned. They used different materials to show how the atoms act. Students were asked to present two objects explaining whether the objects are physical or chemical change. As what have shown in the pictures here, they also tried to experiments real objects to perform these activities that were recorded in their journal or on their checklists or not at all discussing it in the class.
